What is Not Literally?
Not Literally is a parody music and comedy production group founded by Ginny DiGuiseppi, Dana Ritterbusch, and Erik Tande. Nicole Mangione volunteers as production coordinator, webmaster, writer, and all-around superstar. Our parodies center around fandom and nerd culture, featuring characters from science-fiction and fantasy movies, television shows, and books. Our goal is to take our passion for fandom and use that to create something all fandom-lovers can bond over.
Having started out focused in the world of Harry Potter, Not Literally has since branched out to include such popular fandoms as Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, and Doctor Who, with plans for much more! Since beginning in 2011, our reach and our variety has only grown — making it easier and easier to connect with other fandom nerds and share the passion for media!
Ginny, known in YouTube comments as “the brunette one,” is 23 and a writer and artist who happens to be working as a copy editor. She’s trained in jazz and loves Disney, Star Wars, and bacon macaroni and cheese. She’s an alto, a Tyrell, a waterbender, and a Ravenclaw. Her life goal is to be capable of conversing solely in movie and television quotes. Her favorite video is A Character I Used to Know. Ginny stars and sings in Not Literally videos, writes content, manages the website, and helps with costuming.
Dana, known in YouTube comments as “the blonde one,” is 26 and is in social media sales. She’s trained in opera singing and her life goal is to become a living embodiment of Pinterest. She’s a soprano, a Lannister, and a Slytherin. She’d probably be an airbender, but really likes earthbenders’ style. Her favorite video is Movies of the Night. Dana stars and sings in Not Literally videos, helps conceptualize projects, and helps with social media and professional communications.
Erik is 31, from North Dakota, a Hufflepuff, a Stark, and works as a motion graphics artist. He loves running, the goddamn Batman, and being so focused on filming that he doesn’t laugh at Dana and Ginny’s jokes. Which are hilarious. His life goal is to steal Nicole’s life goal. Erik can’t choose his favorite video. You can visit his websites here and here. Erik does all the videography, cinematography, editing, and visual effects.
Nicole joined in 2013 as the production coordinator. She is 25 and works in the commercial plumbing industry. She is a Ravenclaw, and a Stark. Her life goal is to live like Bill Cosby, complete with sweaters. Her favorite video is Sorted This Way. Her job includes preventing the rest of the team from murdering each other. Nicole makes beautiful spreadsheets that make Dana and Ginny weep for joy. She organizes video production and ensures that everything gets done efficiently and completely.
Sarah is the artist behind the Not Literally illustration (i.e. the YouTube header). She’s literally drawn every Gen 1 Pokemon.
Grant probably sold his soul to be able to do the magic he does with hair and makeup. He does the hilarious Crafting with Cocktails.
